Numerical and experimental evaluation of implants used in Total Knee Arthroplasty

Numerical simulations aim to examine the changes in the mechanical environment of the distal femur after knee arthroplasty with different types of implants in different bone qualities. Experimental studies aim to examine the effect of implant design and fixation methods have on relative bone-implant micromotion post TKA. An experimental setup capable of measuring relative motions along all six degrees of freedom has been developed.
